When I sat and started talking to them I realized that I am not telling the story of just a war hero but that of a wonderful human being too.
The challenge was to strike the right balance between these two facets of his dynamic and arresting personality.

But in a biopic or a film based on real incidents you have to chronicle everything that happened the way it did.
There is very little room for creative liberty.
For example the late Capt. Vikram Batra lived for just 24,25 years and there is so much he did in such a short lifespan.
To fit all the incidents and episodes from his life in a 2 hour 15 minute film you need to take a call on what all needs to be incorporated to make the narrative compelling.
The urge to show everything is there but you got to be able to curtail it and present the essence of everything that happened.
