Annabelle Sethupathi is an Indian Tamil language comedy horror movie directed by Deepak Sundarrajan and produced by Sudhan Sundaram and G Jayaram under the banner of Passion Studios.
The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi and Taapsee Pannu. The movie will be released worldwide on Disney Plus Hotstar. In addition it will be dubbed and released in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada under the same title and the Hindi dubbed version is titled Annabelle Rathore.
The movie soundtrack and score is composed by newcomer Krishna Kishor. Before his debut as movie song composer Kishor worked as a percussionist for leading song composers including A. R. Rahman, Anirudh Ravichander, Hiphop Tamizha and Bollywood musicians.

Deepak Sundarrajan son of director actor R. Sundarrajan who worked under the assistance of A. L. Vijay was reported to make his directorial debut with a movie starring Remya Nambeesan and Natarajan Subramaniam was announced in June 2017.
But the project did not materialise due to various reasons. Three years later in August 2020 he was reported to direct a horror comedy movie with Taapsee Pannu and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. It was her third Tamil movie she signed after her prior commitments to Bollywood movies she made her return to Tamil cinema with Game Over and also signed Jana Gana Mana which went on floors during late 2019.

The movie was initially titled as Annabelle Subramaniam and the principal photography began on 28 August 2020 in Jaipur.
The movie was entirely shot in a single schedule, following COVID 19 restrictions and had also shot in City Palace Rambagh Palace and Samode Palace for the past 20 days.

It is the first Tamil movie to be shot after 50 years since Adimai Penn as other production teams found difficult to obtain permission to shoot the movies in the palace. The team managed to complete the entire shoot, following the co operation of the Rajasthan government and the authorities had provided hospitalities for the cast and crew members working in the movie.
The moviemakers wrapped the shoot within October 2020 and subsequently began post production with the team had supervised extensive computer graphic works in the movie. On August 2021 the makers announced the title changed as Annabelle Sethupathi under the dubbed South Indian versions whilst the Hindi version was titled Annabelle Rathore.

Annabelle Sethupathi is set in a haunted palace. King Rathore and his lover Annabelle are played by Sethupathi and Pannu.
After a time leap we see Pannu re enter the palace that still remains haunted with an aim to rob it.
The movie marks the first collaboration between popular southern actor Vijay Sethpathi who won a National Award for his performance in the 2019 movie Super Delux and Taapsee Pannu.
Pannu was last seen in Haseen Dillruba a romantic thriller that had an OTT release. Sethupathi has movies like Master and Tughlaq Durbar under his belt. He also featured in the Edhiri segment of Tamil anthology Navarasa.

A grand palace is filled with several ghosts but they don not really want to torture innocent people they only want to come out of the palace in which they were locked.
But all those who enter the palace and have food during Pournami end up dead and join the ghost gang. As a result a local inspector the last one in the family that owns the palace tries his luck by asking a con family to stay in the palace and clean it for him.
But Rudhra, the daughter of the con family is surprisingly alive despite eating the sumptuous food served by the ghosts on Pournami day, she also gets the power to see all of them.

Meanwhile cut to the flashback we get to see that Rudhra is Annabelle, and her husband Veera Sethupathi the visionary and king behind the grand palace are killed by the family that owns the palace in 2021.
For the grownups Annabelle Sethupathi would not be that exciting as Deepak execution is mostly aimed at kids. Yogi Babu is in top form, he often evokes laughter while Vijay Sethupathi and Taapsee period portions look grand.
The bunch of comedians including Rajendra Prasad, Radhika, Subbu Panchu, George Maryan, Madhumidha provides good laughter in the first half.
While pace gets slowed in the second half, the fun climax makes up for it.
song by Krishna Kishor and cinematography by Goutham George provide the right sound and visual tone to Annabelle Sethupathi.
